Biogas plants
Biogas > What is it?

Biogas as the energy source of the future - and it saves you money.

Biogas is one of the renewable energy sources of the future. Rising oil and gas prices on the one hand and their contribution to global warming on the other support the use of alternative energy. So-called biogas is created by the break-down of organic material by bacteria in an anaerobic environment. This biochemical process can be initiated in an airtight container (fermenter) through the introduction of heat. In addition to organic materials such as sewage and solid waste, regenerating raw materials (corn, grasses, rape seed, etc.) as well as left-over materials from the catering industry, communal waste, etc., can be fermented into biogas. Biogas itself consists of two-thirds methane, carbon dioxide (CO2), traces of hydrogen sulphide (H2S), nitrogen (N2), hydrogen (H2) and carbon monoxide (CO).
